Why give to Johnson C. Smith Theological Seminary

bacon-(1)JCSTS was established by Presbyterians who believed that education was an essential antidote to the poisonous effect of slavery. For more than a century, the seminary produced prophetic leaders who challenged the status quo of racial segregation and who helped lead the way to the reunification of the denomination.

Today, JCSTS is one of the few institutional reminders of the Presbyterian Church (USA)'s stated commitment to racial-ethnic diversity. One of the seminary's continuing roles and responsibilities is to assert that the African-American heritage of the Church is every bit as vital as the history whose symbols may include Geneva gowns and Scottish kilts and that the perspective of the African diaspora on Biblical interpretation, Reformed theology, preaching, and worship can constitute a critical corrective to the Church whenever it may be tempted to see the faith through the eyes of privilege.

Click on the link above to make an online contribution or send your check or money order payable to Johnson C. Smith Theological Seminary to 1024 Ponce de Leon Avenue, Atlanta, GA 30306.

Your gift of any amount will enable JCSTS to live into its destiny as an educational innovator advancing communities of faith, justice, and compassion around the world.

Planned Giving to JCSTS

A planned gift is a gift of one assets for the benefit of JCSTS. These gifts are often planned in conjunction with overall estate planning, and you are encouraged to use professional advisors (legal and accounting) to implement your individual gift.

Planned gifts can sometimes be future or "deferred" gifts, and are designated with your lifetime needs in mind. While annual gifts are often made from income, planned gifts typically utilize assets that would otherwise be included in your estate. These gifted assets made during a donor's lifetime may also generate valuable current income tax deductions. Donors may also consider that their planned gifts enable them to, in essence, continue their annual giving to JCSTS far beyond their lifetimes.

There are a variety of gifting strategies that offer flexibility in making tax-wise planned gifts to JCSTS. A planned gift can be made during your lifetime or through your will. Gifted assets may include cash, securities, retirement plan assets, life insurance policies and real estate.

You do not need to consider yourself wealthy in order to make a planned gift that is of great value to you and to the future of JCSTS.

If interested in participating in Planned Giving and to learn more, please complete the fom below and our Development Officer will contact you. Thank you.
